Earth Day/Trade Days
April 30, 2016

 

 Come out and learn how to live green by visiting over 20 environmental booths and do a little shopping with over 80 vendors selling unique, one of a kind items.

This will be our 8th Earth Day Celebration in Central Park. Area organizations and businesses will be providing give aways and tips on how to live green in Seguin. There will be plants for sale, making art out of recyclable materials and much more. Our Earth Day Exhibitors will be set up from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

There is a full day of entertainment lined up as well as area school groups perform. It is a great opportunity to see local kids shine.

After learning about living green, stroll around downtown and shop at the 80 plus Trade Days vendors set up along River and Donegan Streets. Our Trade Days vendors will be set up from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Other fun environmental activities occuring in Seguin include Kids Fish at the Seguin Outdoor Learning Center from 12:00 to 3:00 and a Seguin ISD/GBRA sponsored Kayak River Clean Up in Starcke Park starting at 2:00 p.m.

Kid Fish

 Come join us for a fun day of free fishing! Recommended ages are 5-12 years old. Registration will be held on-site (parent or guardian must accompany their child.) Loner poles will be available on a first come, first served basis- bring your own if you have one. Bait and tackle provided. No treble hooks allowed. Lunch will be provided (hotdogs.) Drawings for prizes will be held throughout the day. All fishing will be catch and release. You may want to bring: sunscreen, towel, hat, chair, etc.

Central Park Concert Series

Central Park Concert Series 

The Seguin Downtown Seguin Concert Series offers something for almost every musical taste! The family-friendly concerts are free and held in Seguin’s beautiful Central Park.

Central Park in historic downtown Seguin has plenty of grassy open space for kids to run barefoot. Those moving a little slower can plop down a lawn chair or blanket and sit back and enjoy a pleasant evening where the breeze blows through the huge pecan and oak trees and the water and colored lights dance in the beautiful art deco fountain.

For five consecutive Sunday evenings in June, bands and music groups will take center stage in the Central Park bandstand. Performances will include a mix of music with a final patriotic concert that salutes veterans and active military. Hot dogs, hamburgers, cold drinks and snow cones will be available from Scout Troop 107. The concession sales help support the group’s camping activities.

Together with their dads, the night is one to be remembered cherished like no other.  Whether you arrange for a private or shared horse carriage ride or hit the dance floor, she is sure to remember the night.

Freedom Fiesta

The weekend long celebration of our independence kicks off on Saturday, July 2nd with Freedom Fiesta hosted by local radio station, KWED 1580.  The celebration is held in Central Park in downtown Seguin and includes live performances, a kids parade led by Uncle Sam, vendors selling delicous foods, and of course some great socializing as the whole community celebrates in the town square.  For more details on Freedom Fiesta, contact KWED at (830) 379-2234.

The Biggest Small Town Fourth of July Parade
July 04, 2016

Crowds of flag-waving people will line Austin Street for the annual Biggest Small-Town Parade in Texas at 10 a.m. The exact year this event started is unknown, but each year this celebration gets bigger and better! Past crowd estimates have exceeded 10,000. There will be more than a hundred parade entries including floats from local businesses, elected officials, churches, schools, military representatives, and more.
