Holiday Events in Historic Seguin

Holiday events will kick-off in Seguin, Texas on Thursday, November 30 with the annual lighted Holiday parade in downtown Seguin .  
 

Seguin offers a great get-away weekend and features over 500 hotel rooms and quaint bed and breakfasts.

November  30      
Holiday Stroll Lighted Parade, 6:30 p.m. Holiday Stroll kicks off in downtown Seguin on Thursday, November 30 with the annual lighted holiday parade.  Coordinated by the City of Seguin Parks and Recreation Department, the parade will feature over 60 lighted entries including the 
entire Seguin ISD Matador Band with members from grades 7-12.  The parade travels 
from College and Austin Streets to Central Park in downtown Seguin.   

Following the parade the crowd joins in the annual countdown when the Mayor of 
Seguin, Betty Ann Matthies throws the switch, lighting up Central Park for the 
holidays with tens of thousands of twinkling lights.  Smaller trees decorated by local 
clubs and organizations are also illuminated along with festively decorated old-fashioned light fixtures throughout downtown, the statue and fountain, and the pecan trees that line the Guadalupe County Courthouse.  
 
 
Following the lighting, Santa will visit with boys and girls in his special house set up in the Central Park .  Photos with Santa are available for a fee.  A variety of food booths and vendors will be set up.  The winners of the parade and tree-decorating contest will be announced.  The Seguin ISD Matador Band will perform its annual holiday concert.   

The Heritage Museum located at 114 N. River will be open and serving refreshments.  

December

Holiday Stroll in Central Park , 6:30 p.m.  

On Friday, December 1 Holiday Stroll activities continue from 6:30-8:30 p.m. around Central Park

Horse-drawn carriage rides, miniature horse rides and photos, and visits and photos with Santa

will be offered.  Holiday entertainment and a holiday pet parade and contest will also be held

throughout the evening.  Registration for the Holiday Stroll Pet Parade will be from 7-7:30 p.m. 

The Pet Parade begins at 7:30 p.m.

Christmas Vespers, 7:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 1 - Saturday, Dec. 2; 4 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 3,

TLU Jackson Auditorium

The outstanding musical tradition of the TLU Choir, directed by Dr. Douglas Boyer, and

instrumental chamber ensembles continues with these three performances of anticipation and

celebration of the birth of Christ.

Alamo La Bahia Corridor Pony Express Arrival at 1 p.m. and Commemorative Postal

Cancellations by U.S. Postal Service 12 noon- 2 p.m., Heritage Museum, 114 N. River On Saturday,

December 3, the annual Christmas Along the Corridor Pony Express Run will arrive in Seguin around

1 p.m. at the Heritage Museum located at 114 N. River Street where a special proclamation from

the Governor’s Office will be read.  A temporary US Post Office will be set up at the museum and

the postmaster will be offering a hand stamp cancellation for all mail brought to this location

between Noon and 2 p.m.

Holiday Tour of Homes, 2 – 5 p.m., Tickets on Sale $8 presale at Seguin Chamber of

Commerce, Cascades Gift Shop. Ticket prices event day will be $10 per person.  

The tour will feature six historically significant homes adorned for the holidays. Docents will be

available to lead groups through each home.  Refreshments will be served at the Heritage

Museum , 114 N. River St.

Yulefest Arts & Crafts Sale , 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.,  Coliseum 

This is your opportunity to shop for the holidays selecting from a wide variety of homemade craft

items.  Sponsored by the Seguin League of Arts and Crafts, Seguin ’s longest running holiday crafts

sale. Free admission.  
 

9-10           

Christmas Under the Stars at Seguin Outdoor Learning Center, 5:30 – 8:30 p.m., lighted trail,

caroling, story telling, hot beverages, ornament making.

Mid-Texas Symphony Holiday Concert, 4 p.m., TLU Jackson Auditorium, Tickets available at

the Chamber of Commerce.

Concert will feature Children's Chorus from Seguin.  The symphony will perform the following

selections Bizet: L'Arlésienne Suite No.1; Mairs: Christmas Medley with MTS Chorus; Mairs:

Christmas Overture (1st Performance); Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker Suite No.1 Op.71a; Anderson:

Sleigh Ride.

Rural Christmas Tour, Texas Ag Education & Heritage Center  

Tour a 19th Century farm and experience what Christmas was like for German settlers.  This event

will offer entertainment, dancing, chuck-wagon dinner, story telling and educational tours for the

family.   Sponsored by Texas Yes!

Los Posadas, Downtown Seguin . 6 p.m.  A re-enactment of the journey of Joseph and Mary to

Bethlehem . Sponsored by St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church

and other local churches and individuals. The journey of Mary and Joseph is led by a Mariachi band

and travels to different buildings in downtown Seguin . A brief service and refreshments will

conclude the event. Meet at City Hall in downtown Seguin at 6 p.m.
